Alone at Dusk on the Cote d’Azur
On the coast of Nice
Cold swelling
Off the warm Mediterranean
The girl to my left
Feet in the water
Hands wrapping an empty liter
Asks me for a cigarette I don’t have
Beach laid out in stones
The sky turns from blue
To orange then lavender
Diamond spotted black
Rushes in like a chill
